Launch of Antares
The Cygnus cargo craft from @NorthropGrumman lifted off on time nov 2 at 9:59am ET from @NASA_Wallops in Virginia to resupply the Exp 61 crew with over four tons of science, supplies and hardware early Monday.
Antares, known during early development as Taurus II, is an expendable launch system developed by Orbital Sciences Corporation and the Yuzhnoye Design Bureau to launch the Cygnus spacecraft to the International Space Station as part of NASA's COTS and CRS programs.
The Cygnus spacecraft is a single-use American automated cargo spacecraft developed by Orbital Sciences and now built and launched by Northrop Grumman as part of NASA's Commercial Orbital Transportation Services (COTS) developmental program.
